This page was originally created almost 9 years ago. It was modified as the time came by, but it still is far from I would like to see here myself. So, 4 years later, on May 2002, I decided to add this little introduction to my "Introduction" page:

This site is a one man operation. The man's name is Slava. He is Russian who has been living in Virgnia, USA for the last 6 years. Everything on this site came from his past: past hobbies, past businesses, past collections.

Slava's primary intention was to turn the time and efforts that he put in collecting, photographing, purchasing, etc into something that other people would appreciate. Otherwise, it would all be wasted and forgotten. Since he worked as a web designer, he was able to create this site and Perl scripts that drive the "back end" (most of the time). I can express everybody's opinion that the 'shopping cart' here still sucks... Anyway, let it not stop you from browsing the site and purchasing the trinkets that you like. There is a whole lot of various items with every item represented by a thumbnail-size image that is linked to a large 300 or 400dpi image. Be patient. Read instructions. Just ask ! You will always get Slava's personal attention.
Introduction In Spanish

All newest additions are duly recorded in "What's new" page. (has not been updated for years)

There are over 9,000 pins in the online collection and all of them are displayed individually. Every pin is scanned at 400 dpi ( details can be seen as if you put a pin under the microscope). These images are linked to the corresponding thumbnails (100 dpi) placed on 250+ pages divided by themes.

Besides the pins, there are watches, military patches, lemonade labels, posters, night vision periscopes, flasks, postcrds and photographs, oil and watercolor paintings,
To give you a visual representation of 400 dpi resolution, I scanned a penny. Thumbnails (100 dpi) are this big:

Follow this link to see other assorted Soviet items I have for sale. For the last couple of years there were a lot of items sold that I will neve be able to find again. Look at these nice authentic KGB badges (click on the picture to see a full-screen photo 55Kb). They were purchased by Marty Goodman from Canada. He wrote:

"Hi! I got the badges in the mail and they are great!

Would it be possible to find out some information about the KGB badges from the owner of the collection? Would these badges be worn by KGB officers or are they replicas. If these are replicas they are the best I have ever seen! I have many other replica styles in my collection. I always look at replica badges like these as late issue/replacement copies that could be worn by KGB officers on their uniforms. Many collectors believe they are nothing more than fakes made for collectors.

I would really appreciate an answer from your source as this would be very interesting information and would clear up the many theories about these KGB badges."
Pins were an integral attribute of the Soviet society. They were intended as small statements which demonstrated the unity of the Soviet people. Pins made people equal. Working people were given pins (or medals) for the heroic labor, instead of money and estates.

Pins showed the membership in the Supreme Soviet of the USSR and "Pioneer" (boy scout) membership , pins depicted town crests and aeroplanes, they celebrated space exploration and marked anniversaries of the victory in the Great Patriotic war.

Now the Soviet Union is gone. The Soviet society is gone. People in Russia don't build communism anymore. Lenin is no longer an idol. SovietArmy is no longer a threat.
In 70 years most of the people who happened to live in the Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics will be gone too. But these pins will still be with us to remind...
