The legend says, that during one of his trips on north Peter I made a stop in Danilov Sloboda, visited wooden church and was extremely not pleased its squalor and poverty. To please to the emperor, the local nobility on the parishioners taxes had laid the foundation of a new stone cathedral with a bell tower. After the construction of the cathedral the letter and the souvenir, silver chess made by Danilov skilled craftsmen, were sent to Peter I. A chess field in the blazon - the memory of this souvenir. |
