Introduction.
In summer 2000 SADCOM LLC has ventured to import a first shipments of Russian aviation engines, parts and instruments to the United States... and succeded.The last shipment was received on Dec 11th. E-mail or call us for details.

Contact Count Slava Olchevski for details and availability: w.phone (703)696-9480, cel (703)505-5138 or send a message right from here. SADCOM LLC mailing address is: PO Box 650143, Potomac Falls, VA 20165

Technicalities
It is quite similar to the well known M14P 9 cylinder radial used on the YAK 50, 52, 55 and the Sukhoi aerobatic aircrafts SU-26, SU-29, SU31, except that the B model has a splined shaft and no inverted oil system. Model B engine was used on helicopters mainly, though the ones that we were selling came from AN-14 airplanes. Since AN-14 is dual engine airplane and uses smaller prop than YAKs and Sukhoi airplanes, the model "B" engine can't be used on any of these airplanes without extensive modifications. Apparently, the fact that they were manufactured for the use on a dual-engine AN14 airplane at higher RPM with smaller props than Yaks introduced more differences: different compression ratio, different oil system, different air-start system. It is perefct for homebuilt airplanes with flight weight below 1100 lbs. We also sell exhaust systems for M14 engines of all types.

The engine weights approximately 475 LBS (223.6 Kg.) without oil, but with accessories. It is approximately 620 cubic inches and rated at a CONTINUOUS horsepower of 300 and as they call it "emergency" or "take off" horsepower of 350 for a 30 minute duration. The M14P engine, even though it is rated at 360 HP, according to it's specs, is 360 HP ONLY for a maximum of 5 minutes.

Fuel consumption:
At Maximum thrust (2400 rpm) - 300 gram per HP per hour;
At Nominal (2300 - 2050 rpm) - 280 gram per HP per hour;
At Cruising (1860 - 1650 rpm) - 205 - 230 gram per HP per hour.

Useful applications.
Well, the engines that we sold so far came from AN-14 airplane. AN-14 photo Click on the image to see the enlarged photo.

Do's and Dont's

General
Be careful when you buy a Russian airplane engine. They not only differ in specs with only one letter indicating the difference: Like: M14P and M14B. They also come in different conditions. Ask the photos where you could see the engines or at least detailed description of their conditions. The engines that we sold were overhauled once and put on storage. They were oiled and wrapped in plastic with bags of silicia gel put inside to absorb moisture (see the photos). They have 500 flight time before the next overhaul. Make sure that you know what you are buying before making the commitment. We require 25% downpayment..
Transportation & Delivery
Engines are delivered to Baltimore, MD. Depending from your location, check out if it is cheaper to have the engine shipped to you or pick it up yourself.

Finally, the engines reached its destination.
It takes a full size pickup truck to bring 2 engines from port.
Every engine is tightly wrapped in a thick plastic.
Bigger parts are wrapped in metal strips and nailed to a pallette.

Spare parts are placed in a wooden crate.
The engine is standing on 3 metal legs. Each leg is securely bolted to the pallette.
To prevent rusting, there is a number of linen bags filled with silicagel. The way they are attached reminds the baloons' weights...
The factory shield. It's all written in Cyrillic, of course.

Carefully unwrapping the engine. It has been in this cocoon for many years and still looks <and smells> like new
.
The green gear box can be easily removed and you can attach the propeller using custom made hub. See Sopwitch Pup photo above. The hubs are available.
