Assateague beaches are stretching all the way from Ocean City on the North to the South end of the island which is off-limits to people during the summer season. There are protected nesting places of the birds and you will see a fence where this area starts. This is a quick panoramic photo of the beach right across from the access road. The beach is very clean with an almost white colored sand. There are not too many people around and the surf fishing is permitted on the beaches without life guards.

A word of caution. If you plan to come here for the weekend, plan your arrival on the beach before 10 am. If you come later than this, you will be risking to sit in a waiting lines with all the other cars that can't get parking. The beaches are huge, but the parking lots are limited. The guards will let as many cars in as there will be cars out. If this happened to you regardless of my warning, park on the shoulder of the road and walk the rest of the way to the beach. Nobody will fine or tow your car.
