My first and easiest catch were mussels. Those blackish-blue shells are protrubing from the floor of the bays and they are an easy find. The clams are hidden under 3-5 inches of sand. The only indication is a tiny hole in the sand. Look for them during the low tide. I found most of the clams in the knee deep water. Somehow ther is much more holes in the sand that is not covered by water than there are clams, plus it is harder to dig. Before I realised that my hands were blistered and I almost gave up. The biggest clams that I found were fist size.
